Блин а на Убунту 9,10 дрова 185 карта 210 проблемка – вкладка оверклокинга не активируется а powermizer работает в режиме максимума.
I`ve got a problen on my desktop Ubuntu Karmic\nvidia 185\GeForce 210. After editing xorg and restarting gdm there`s problems 1) PowerMizer still works on max with compiz and tryin 2 activate overclocking gets an error

install the latest Beta drive, one of the features it has is letting you overclock

the problem isnt underclocking in my case, this powermizer prevents me to overclock my cards in linux (not a laptop but a chieftech case with big cooling), it kinda bugs the hell out of me, i was 100% linux but now i have to run windows to apply my clocks… im going to flash my cards tho, that shuld sort it!!!

Unfortunately that is a known issue. Forced clocks get reset at each reboot. It is highly probable that the responsible is powemizer, but I hadn’t dig deeper into this issue. Being able to tweak how powermizer behaves (check my powermizer post for this) is enough for the daily use, also because overclocking video cards in laptops is not advisable. Downclocking them would be an idea, but helas until now I didn’t have the time. I’m sorry.

hey i got a little problem, i THINK powermizer is resetting my clocks, whatever i do (apply with nvidia settings or apply the settings via command line) it keeps resetting to stock clocks.. i havent been able to disable powermizer (ive tried your how-to).. do you know a fix for this?

tried that: executed as root, set the frequencies of 3d down, applied, quit, executed as root again, and the frequencies were back to normal

You need to run the config as root (sudo nvidia-settings) to make any changes stick. running from the menu link will only let you see the information, not actually alter it.

hi there.
I tried your howto but I have one problem: the frequencies do nto get applied at reboot
All I want to do, is downclock my graphiccard, as it gets pretty hot and I am not a big gamer,so most of the time I don’t need it running full speed….

I lower the frequencies, all seems well, but after a restart, frequencies are back to normal values

any ideas what could be wrong?
